Life

The death of Rudolf von Dingelstädt in a manuscript from the Saxon World Chronicle ( State and University Library Bremen , msa 0033, fol. 102r.).

Rudolf von Dingelstädt, from the Thuringian nobility, previously attested (1235) as cathedral dean of Magdeburg, was elected successor to Wilbrands von Käfernburg in April 1253.

The Margrave of Brandenburg acquired in 1254 by Ludolf II. Of Schladen , Bishop of Halberstadt , the city Aschersleben and the convent marine life . The cathedral chapter of Halberstadt , which was against this trade, sold both on June 13, 1257 to the Archdiocese of Magdeburg . This latter deal was confirmed by the Pope, the margraves were compelled to leave both of these to Rudolf.

Archbishop Rudolf acquired the county of Seehausen and the castles of Alvensleben and Hackenstedt for the ore monastery of Magdeburg through a contract with Halberstadt Bishop Volrad von Kranichfeld in 1257 . The following dispute over these possessions with the Margrave Otto III. von Brandenburg ended on May 12, 1259 with a settlement. In this comparison, the Archbishop Rudolf and Otto III, Margrave of Brandenburg, agree that the Archbishop should keep the County of Seehausen against payment of 3,000 silver marks. In order to collect the sum to be paid to the Halberstadt monastery for the county of Seehausen, the archbishop pledged the towns of Jessen and Zörbig to Count Siegfried I of Anhalt-Zerbst for four years for a loan of 1,027 silver marks on October 17, 1259 .

Rudolf von Dingelstädt died surprisingly at table on April 29, 1260.
