Life and effect
Rudolf Bullerjahn was born in Berlin in 1856 and received thorough musical training there. From 1882 to 1886 he was a soloist in the court orchestra in Meiningen and in 1886 became the city's music director in Göttingen. In 1890 he resigned this position because the Göttingen magistrate refused to put the orchestra on a sound financial basis; Bullerjahn had to pay the musicians' salaries from his private assets. In 1891 he went to Russia, where he became a respected concert conductor. Rudolf Bullerjahn died in Moscow in 1911.
Since April 2002 he has had his own plaque on his Göttingen house, with which the city of Göttingen honors its famous personalities. However, to this day he is still considered to be a crazy existence and an incompetent musician in Göttingen.
