Ruedi Meier

Ruedi Meier (born June 3, 1949 in Wettingen AG) is a Swiss economist , spatial planner, and energy specialist .

Life

Ruedi Meier went through the primary and district school in Wettingen and then attended the grammar school (Matur type C) at the canton school in Baden . After graduating from high school , he studied economics at the University of Zurich from 1970 . In 1975 Ruedi Meier was employed by Professor Hans-Christoph Binswanger as part of a work on the revision of the Federal Constitution. From 1975 to 1977 he completed the postgraduate degree in "Spatial Planning" at the Institute for Local, Regional and State Planning (ORL) at ETH Zurich . In the same place he also worked as a research assistant. In 1981 he received his doctorate for a thesis on cantonal economic policy. After graduating from the ORL, he worked for two years as secretary of the Thal regional planning group in the canton of Solothurn , then from 1982 to 1988 as an economist and press officer of the Swiss Association for Mountain Regions (SAB). From 1988 to 1994 he was an economic consultant at the building, transport and energy department of the Canton of Bern and from 1997 to 2014, as co-owner of Focus Events AG, he was also a co-organizer of the house construction and energy fair in Bern . He has been working for energie-cluster.ch since 2004, initially in the role of managing director and since 2011 as its president. He also worked as a program manager on behalf of the Federal Office of Energy and as an expert for the National Research Program 31 (climate change and natural disasters) of the Swiss National Science Foundation . Dr. Ruedi Meier was active as initiator or co-initiator of various projects: Minergie, Minergie-P, NewRide, plus energy buildings. He has written over 200 publications as a researcher, consultant and project manager.

Ruedi Meier is married and has one son. He lives in Bern.
