Rugendas (artist family)

Rugendas was the name of a family of artists in Augsburg . Georg Philipp Rugendas the Elder (1666–1742), painter and engraver, is considered the founding father of the - presumably Huguenot - family . His most important descendants were:

• Georg Philipp Rugendas
  • Anna Katharina Rugendas (1699–1747), draftsman
  • Georg Philipp Rugendas (II) (1701–1774), German painter
  • Christian Rugendas (1708–1781), painter and engraver
  • Jeremias Gottlob Rugendas (1710–1772), engraver

• Johann Lorenz Rugendas the Elder (1730–1799), painter, engraver and art publisher

• Johann Lorenz Rugendas the Younger (1775–1826), painter
  • Moritz Rugendas (1802–1858), painter
