The Humberg ruins are the ruins of a hilltop castle from the 10th century in Hermiswil in the Swiss municipality of Seeberg in the canton of Bern .
Location and description
The Humberg ruin is on the edge of a plateau near Hermiswil. It consists of a main and a Vorwerk . The castle was protected on three sides by several earth walls and ditches . The houses were on two levels, each with a floor area of around 100 m² and each had a water point. It can be assumed that the entire complex was surrounded by a wooden palisade and that there was a wooden castle on the western side.
history
The castle was built between the 10th and 13th centuries. It was never mentioned in a document and there is no information about the owner, the time of construction and the abandonment. It is therefore undated.
