Run school

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Run School ( Chinese  潤 派  /  润 派 , Pinyin Run pai , English Run Sect ) is one of the four schools of Southern (or Theravāda - or Pali -) Buddhism (Chinese Shangzuobu Fojiao or Nanchuan Fojiao ) in Yunnan . It was introduced via the north of Thailand ( Chiang Mai ) and the east of Myanmar ( Kengtung ) to Xishuangbanna in the Chinese province of Yunnan and is also widespread in Lincang . It is divided into the two branches Huayuansi pai花园 寺 派 (also called Baisun pai 摆 孙 派) and Lianhuasi pai莲花 寺 派 (also called Baiba pai 摆 罢 派).

Huayuansi pai is common on both banks of the Lancang Jiang River (Mekong) in the area of Damenglong大 勐 龙, Jinghong景洪 and Menghan勐 罕. Lianhuasi pai is common in the mountainous area of Xiding (the Blang ) village 西 定 布朗 山区, in the areas of Mengzhe勐 遮, Menghai勐 海 and Menghun勐 混. As in the Baizhuang school ( Baizhuang pai ), the monastic and priestly system is very well developed and its influence is very strong.
