Runddysse in the Bjerne Mark

The Runddysse in Bjerne Mark is east of Bjernevej, near Faaborg , on the Horne Land peninsula on Funen in Denmark , with a view of the bay to Faaborg.

The free-standing, west-east oriented round dyke with two bearing stones each on the north and south side and an in-situ capstone has a small threshold stone in the east . The bearing stone in the west is missing, whereby the 2.5 × 1.3 m and approximately 1.0 m high chamber is otherwise complete. On the large, chunky capstone are a couple of bowls and a series of blast holes from trying to destroy the stone.

Nearby lies passage grave Bjerne Knoldsborg 2 .

Individual evidence

  1. Runddysse stands for round dolmen and is the common denomination in Denmark for dolmens that are located in a round hill. In contrast, dolmens in a barren bed are called Langdyssen.
