Helmut Woge

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Helmut Woge is a former boxer and today's boxing trainer. As a BSG boxer, he managed to become GDR champion twice.

Helmut Woge started for BSG Motor Mitte Magdeburg . He was GDR boxing champion in 1978 in the light middleweight division and in 1982 in the middleweight division . That was unusual because the athletes from the specially funded performance centers of the sports clubs usually negotiated the titles among themselves. In both 1978 and 1982 Woge was the only BSG boxer to win titles. After his second championship title he was delegated to SC Magdeburg and in 1983 again reached the final of the GDR boxing championship in the middleweight division, which he lost to Henry Maske , however.

After his active career, he worked as an assistant trainer at MSV 1990, the later 1. BC Magdeburg . The boxer Robert Woge is his great cousin.
