Robert Woge (born May 14, 1984 in Bernburg , Saxony-Anhalt ) is a former German professional boxer and former IBF intercontinental champion in the light heavyweight division.

Woge graduated from high school in 2000 and then began an apprenticeship as a carpenter in Halle (Saale) , which he successfully completed in 2003. He started boxing at SV Blau-Weiß Könnern in 1997 and initially trained with Ulf Gonschorek and Gerald Gottwald. He then boxed in the Halle performance center and from 2003 to 2007 as a soldier in the Bundeswehr sports promotion group in Frankfurt (Oder) . Robert Woge is married and has two daughters.

Amateur career

He was already the German youth champion (A) in 2000 and German junior champion in 2001. In 2004 he was German middleweight champion, and in 2005, 2006 and 2007 German light heavyweight champion. In 2008 he became German runner-up after which he lost to Gottlieb Weiss in the final . At German championships he defeated u. a. Ömer Yağcıoğlu, Anatolij Hoppe, Tino Gross, Hüseyin Çinkaya, Waldemar Schönemann, Stefan Sittner, Björn Blaschke , Eugen Schellenberg, Gottlieb Weiss, Markus Finke, René Krause and Benjamin Schmidt.

Chemistry Cup

In 2003 he won the middleweight division with a final victory against the two-time bronze medalist at the world championships Yordanis Despaigne , the 31st Halle Chemistry Cup. At the 33rd Chemistry Cup he lost to the Czech Petr Novotný on points in the middleweight division in the first round of the tournament. At the 34th Chemistry Cup he won the light heavyweight division against Daugirdas Semiotas (bronze winner of the 2007 World Cup), but then lost to two-time world champion Evgeny Makarenko . In 2007 he took part in the light heavyweight division at the 35th Chemistry Cup in Halle, defeating István Bencze from Hungary. In the final, however, he lost on points to the 2005 world champion, Jerdos Dschanabergenow from Kazakhstan. At the 36th Chemistry Cup in 2008, he won the light heavyweight division against Dinesh Kumar , but then lost to René Krause on points. He was finally able to secure the 37th Chemistry Cup in 2009 in the light heavyweight division with victories against Daugirdas Šemiotas and Abdelhafid Benchabla .

More tournaments

In 2001 he won the 6th International Brandenburg Cup in Frankfurt (Oder). He won it in the light middleweight division against Oleg Besmelnitsyn (Russia), Hardeep Singh (India) and Michel Henrotin (Belgium). In 2003 he won the middleweight division by beating the Englishman Nigel Travis, the 12th Chemnitz international boxing tournament. In 2009 he won the 18th Chemnitz International Light Heavyweight Boxing Tournament and was also voted the best boxer of the tournament. The four-time Austrian champion and bronze medalist of the military world championship 2006 Oliver Obradovic , he knocked out in the first round and thus inflicted his first premature defeat. In the final, his Russian opponent Alim Borenov gave up in the first round.

Professional career

In 2010 he signed a professional contract with Arena Box-Promotion , since 2011 he has been part of Ulli Wegner's training group at the Sauerland Event boxing team . Woge won his professional debut on March 27, 2010 in Hamburg with a technical knockout in the first round against Valerijs Gubins from Latvia (2-0). On February 2, 2013, he defeated Hakim Zoulikha (18-3) by tKo in the eleventh round and thus won the IBF intercontinental championship. He defended this in June 2013 unanimously on points against the undefeated Poland Dariusz Sęk (19-0).

On October 26, 2013, he lost his title by losing points to the Ukrainian Anatoly Dudschenko (18-2). Then he ended his career.
