GDR championships in boxing 1978
The GDR boxing championships were held for the 30th time in 1978 and took place from February 15 to 19 in the Erwin-Panndorf -Halle in Gera . 103 boxers took part in the title fights, who determined the champions in eleven weight classes. Only three boxers started in the light flyweight division, which is why there was only one third place. The SC Traktor Schwerin and SG Wismut Gera were with three titles, the most successful clubs in the championship. With Stefan Förster , Christian Zornow and Jürgen Fanghänel , three boxers were able to defend their title from the previous year. This time Herbert Bauch was awarded a title one weight class higher.
