history

According to the will of the GDR sports management, a sports club was to be founded in the district capital of Gera . This should promote the competitive sport, which was practiced in various sports communities in the city, and unite them under one roof. On November 29, 1973, the SG Wismut Gera was finally formed. It essentially emerged from the boxing section of the BSG Wismut Gera and the cycling section of the SG Dynamo Gera-Mitte . The sponsoring company was the SDAG Wismut . The BSG Wismut Gera continued to exist alongside the SG Wismut Gera, but was more popular and oriented towards football. After the reunification , the Wismut Gera City Sports Club emerged in 1990 , in which cycling is concentrated. In 2004, former Wismut members founded the Wismut Gera boxing club, which is picking up on the SG Wismut's boxing tradition.
