Lutz Käsebier (* 1958 ) is a former German boxer . He won a bronze medal in lightweight at the World Amateur Championship in 1978 .

Career

Lutz Käsebier was one of three boxing brothers, but only he achieved world level. He started boxing in 1966 at the age of eight at SG Dynamo Schönebeck . From the age of 14 he attended a children's and youth sports school and moved to SC Dynamo Berlin .

Lutz Käsebier's international boxing career began in 1976. He took part in the European Junior Championships in Izmir that year and finished fifth in the lightweight with a victory over Martin McGough from England and a defeat against Traian Georgiu from Romania .

In 1977 he won the 6th Steinmetz-Pokal in Pécs in Hungary in the lightweight and finished second at the TSC tournament in Berlin after a defeat in the final against Abduraschid Isajew.

In 1978 Lutz Käsebier came in the GDR championship after a point defeat in the final against Christian Zornow on the 2nd place. It was then used that year at the World Cup of Amateurs in Belgrade . In the lightweight he won there over Leszek Kosedowski from Poland (4: 1) and Oh Young-sae from South Korea (3: 2) before he could no longer compete in the semifinals against Vladimir Sorokin from the Soviet Union due to an injury. But he won a World Cup bronze medal .

In the following years Lutz Käsebier had in the GDR in his weight class in Richard Nowakowski , the two-time European champion and two-time medalist at the Olympic Games, a competitor, he could not defeat. He was therefore no longer used at the major international championships (Olympic Games, World and European Championships). But he still took many good places in many international tournaments and in the GDR championships.

In 1984 he finished his boxer career and trained at the police school in Neustrelitz . Then he was with the police in East Berlin . Today (2009) he is employed as police chief as a contact area officer in Berlin and is responsible for the area on the Stralau peninsula. He also volunteers for youth work in various institutions (Arbeiterwohlfahrt) and leads boxing seminars in the student area.
