GDR boxing championships 1979
The GDR boxing championships were held for the 31st time in 1979 and took place from December 5th to 9th in Frankfurt (Oder) . The champions were determined in eleven weight classes. Three boxers started in the light flyweight division, which is why there was only one third place. The ASK forward Frankfurt / O. was the most successful club in this championship with four titles. With Jürgen Fanghänel , only one boxer was able to defend his title from the previous year. Robert Marx , Richard Nowakowski and Olaf Schneider came one weight class higher this time to title honors.
