Jörg Richter

Jörg Richter (born November 13, 1939 in Dresden ; † September 8, 2018 ) was a German psychologist and politician ( SPD ). From 1992 to 1999 he was district mayor of Berlin-Pankow .

Richter passed the Abitur in 1957 and studied psychology at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 1960 . In 1965 he graduated as a psychologist and then worked as a specialist psychologist at the “Central Institute for Occupational Medicine of the GDR ” (ZAM) in Berlin-Lichtenberg . He received his doctorate in 1981 with the Dr. rer. nat. and in 1988 switched to the “ Telephone of Trust ”, an institution of the magistrate of (East) Berlin .

At the turn of 1989 , Richter joined the Social Democratic Party in the GDR (SDP) and was elected to the city council in the first free election in (East) Berlin in 1990 . The Pankow District Assembly elected him in 1992 as District Mayor of Berlin-Pankow. In 1999 Richter resigned from his office.
