NGC 7163 is a bar-spiral galaxy with extensive star formation areas of the Hubble type SBab in the constellation Piscis Austrinus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 125 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 70,000 ly. It belongs to the Hickson Compact Group HCG 90 along with NGC 7172 , NGC 7173 , NGC 7174 and NGC 7176 .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on September 27, 1834 .
