NGC 7173 is a cD galaxy of Hubble type E3 Southern in the constellation fish. It is an estimated 113 million light years from the Milky Way and about 40,000 light years in diameter. Together with NGC 7172 , NGC 7174 and NGC 7176 , it forms the Hickson Compact Group 90 .
The object was discovered on September 25, 1834 by the British astronomer John Herschel .
