NGC 7179 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation of Indians in the southern sky . It is an estimated 129 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light years in diameter. Together with NGC 7192 , NGC 7191 , NGC 7219 and PGC 68473 , it forms the small NGC 7192 group ( LGG 452 ).
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 7191 and NGC 7192 .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on June 22, 1835 .
