Mohammed Salisu Abdul Karim (born April 17, 1999 in Accra ) is a Ghanaian soccer player who is currently under contract with the English first division club Southampton FC .
Club career
Salisu moved from the Ghanaian African Talent Football Academy to the youth team Real Valladolids in October 2017 . From January 2018 he was in the squad of the reserve team in the Segunda División B listed. On January 28, 2018, he made his debut there in the 2-4 home defeat against Coruxo FC . Then he made his breakthrough in the starting line-up of the B-team and on March 1, 2018 he signed a new three-year contract with the Blanquivioletas . On April 29, he scored his first professional goal in a 2-2 draw with Racing Ferrol . In this 2017/18 season, he played 13 league games.
In the summer of 2018 he was promoted to the first team, but was still only in the reserve. He made his debut in the senior team on January 9, 2019 in the 1-0 home defeat against Getafe FC in the Copa del Rey 2018/19 . Another appearance in the cup followed and he ended the 2018/19 season with 26 league appearances for the reserve.
In the following season 2019/20 he was trusted by coach Sergio , which enabled him to make his LaLiga debut on August 18, 2019 (1st matchday) in a 2-1 away win against Betis Sevilla . As a result, he rose to become a regular in Valladolid's central defense . On October 26 (10th matchday) he scored his first goal for Valladolid in a 2-0 home win against SD Eibar . During this season he played 31 league games in which he scored a goal.
On August 12, 2020, Salisu moved to English first division club Southampton FC , where he signed a four-year contract.
