GDR championships in boxing 1989
The GDR boxing championships were held for the 41st and last time in 1989 and took place from December 13th to 17th in the Rostock sports and congress hall. Boxing took place in Ribnitz-Damgarten until the quarter-finals and in Wismar until the semi-finals . For the first time a scoring machine was used for the five judges instead of the usual score sheets. The SC Traktor Schwerin was with seven titles the most successful club this championship. With Andreas Zülow and Sven Lange , two boxers defended their title from the previous year. This time Rico Kubat came one weight class higher to title honors.
