Tour (Art Academy Düsseldorf)
The tour , a rare academy tour , is an annual multi-day art exhibition at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf , during which academy students show their semester work in the main building of the academy . The custom of the public exhibition was officially introduced in the 1970s under Norbert Kricke , after there had already been non-public tours. The impetus for holding public exhibitions was given by the presentations that Klaus Rinke's class , which had moved to alternative quarters on Düsseldorf's Karl-Anton-Strasse in 1974, has been holding since then in the main building of the academy. At the end of each winter semester - usually in February - tens of thousands of art enthusiasts, including many gallery owners and private collectors, visit the tour . In 2014 the art academy began to invite summer graduates to a public “summer tour”.
