The Brohus Stone
The two united fragments of the Brohus stone

The rune stone 4 by Østermarie ( Danish Østermarie-sten 4 - also called Brohuse-stenen; DR 393 or DK Bh 54) consists of two fragments that were found in 1866 under the material of the Brohusebro (bridge). The stone has been in a small grove south of the bridge, near Gyldensø, east of Østermarie on the Danish island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea since 1870 . Its state of preservation is good.

The granite stone is 2.25 m high, 65 cm wide and 20 to 32 cm thick.

The undecorated rune stone belongs to the group of late Bornholm stones from the transition period between the Viking Age (800 to 1050 AD) and the older Middle Ages (1075–1125 AD).

The inscription on the narrow side reads: "Bove carved the stone after Thykil / Thorkel". The inscription formula on Bh 54 is untypical for Bornholm rune stones. The location of the inscription on the narrow sides of the stone is also atypical. The inscription begins below.
