Runestone of Hune

The granite rune stone from Hune (DK NJy 11) is located in the Karnhaus of the village church, east of Blokhus in Vendsyssel in the Danish North Jutland .

The rune stone from Hune came to Hune in 1550 and was set up in 1940 in a corner of the Karnhaus, partly embedded in the ground. As a result, the three lowest runes of the left row and the lowest of the middle row lie under the surface of the earth. The rune stone probably originally stood on the old route from Hune to Jetsmark.

The approximately 1000 year old rune stone is one of the largest in this area. The inscription reads after the translation: "Hove, Thorkil and Thorbjørn had this stone set up in memory of their father Runulf the wise". It is unclear whether the Hove named in the runic inscription is identical to the Hove on the neighboring jet landmark .
