Runestone from Järsberg
The runestone of Järsberg ( Swedish Järsbergstenen ) (KJ 70; Vr 1) is in Järsberg, south of Kristinehamn in the province of Värmlands län in Sweden .
The pillar-like rune stone from the 6th century, i.e. the Iron Age, is one of the oldest stones in Sweden. It was discovered lying in a field in 1862, partially covered with earth. The farmer wanted to use it as a fence post, but realized that the stone was something special.
The rune stone is said to have been in a stone circle together with an unlabeled stone . The upper part is missing and was not found despite a search. The residual stone made of reddish gneiss granite is 1.85 m tall . An investigation in 1975 showed a total length of 2.2 meters.
Since the inscription is incomplete, it cannot be interpreted exactly, especially since the rune researchers are puzzling in which direction the runes are to be read.
According to the information board , the inscription (reading by Jansson) reads : Ljuv (?) Is my name. Ravn is my name. I, Eril, write the runes.
