Runnymede and Weybridge is a constituency for the House of Commons in the county of Surrey . The constituency was created in its current form in 1997 and covers much of Addlestone , Chertsey , Egham and Weybridge . He sends a representative to parliament.

history

Since its creation, the constituency has been represented in Parliament by Philip Hammond , who served as Chancellor of the Exchequer between 2016 and 2019 and previously as Foreign Secretary for two years . He originally wanted to run for re-election in the British General Election in 2019 , although it was unclear for a long time whether Hammond would apply with a new party, as a non-party or as a candidate for the Conservative Party . On November 5, he announced that he would not be re-elected. In the election, the seat went to the conservative politician Ben Spencer .

In April 2013 the constituency had an unemployment rate of only 1.3%. This value was significantly lower than the national average of 3.8%.
