The Runyon rock is a distinctive rocky outcrop in the West Antarctic Marie Byrd Land . In the Crary Mountains, it rises on the north side of Boyd Ridge .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1959 to 1966. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1975 after William E. Runyon, US Navy construction electrician at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in 1969 and 1974.
