Rupa-Rupa ( Quechua rupha "burning, hot"), also Selva alta ( Spanish for "high / high forest"), is an altitude on the eastern slope of the Andes from approx. 400 to 1000 m above sea level (after Javier Pulgar Vidal ).

The climate is hot; even in the winter of the southern hemisphere, the temperature does not drop below 15 ° C, but falls as the altitude rises above sea level. It is the rainiest zone in the Andean region.
