history

The local newspaper was founded in June 1990 on the initiative of the Neuruppin Round Table and initially appeared weekly. It has been published as a daily newspaper by Märkischer Zeitungsverlag since December 15, 1990. The RA is one of the few newly founded newspapers in the GDR area that has become permanently established. Since January 1, 2011, the newspaper has been owned by Märkische Verlags- und Druckhaus GmbH & Co. KG (MVD) , which also publishes the Märkische Oderzeitung , which designs the national section of the RA. The newspaper previously belonged to the Westfälische Anzeiger Verlagsgesellschaft mbH and Co.KG and was thus part of Dirk Ippen's publishing group . Until 2012, the shareholders of the MVD were each half the Neue Pressegesellschaft mbh & Co. KG (publisher of the Südwest-Presse ) and the Stuttgarter Zeitung Verlagsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG (publisher of the Stuttgarter Zeitung and the Stuttgarter Nachrichten ). At the end of 2012 the Neue Pressegesellschaft took over all shares.
