Rupprecht Maushart

Rupprecht Maushart (born December 9, 1929 ) is a German radiation protectionist . In particular, he held various leading positions in the German-Swiss Association for Radiation Protection and in the international radiation protection society IRPA .

Volunteering

The European Radiation Protection Society ESG was founded on May 29, 1963 in Vienna as the first European radiation protection association . Rupprecht Maushart became its first secretary under the Swiss Peter Courvoisier as president. The ESG became the Central European Section (CES) of the Health Physics Society in 1966, before the international radiation protection association IRPA was founded .

In the run-up to the establishment of the international radiation protection society IRPA , in order to determine its goals and principles, eleven delegates met in London on February 1, 1964, including Rupprecht Maushart as the German representative. The IRPA was founded in September 1966. As early as June 1966, the German-Swiss Association for Radiation Protection was founded as a national radiation protection society. Rupprecht Maushart is a founding and honorary member of the association. He was also its president in 1970 and 1971.

After the importance of the ESG had declined with the establishment of the IRPA and the Association for Radiation Protection, Rupprecht Maushart, who had meanwhile become its executive president, tried to establish it as a European umbrella organization through the national radiation protection societies. Finally, however, the ESG dissolved on May 12, 1967 and transferred its assets to the Association for Radiation Protection.

In the IRPA, Rupprecht Maushart sat on the executive board from 1988 to 1990 and was its treasurer from 1990 to 2000.

Since February 1995, the Association for Radiation Protection has published the specialist journal StrahlenschutzPRAXIS , initiated by Rupprecht Maushart . Rupprecht Maushart was editor of the magazine until the end of 2012 and was inherited by his wife Bärbl Maushart .

In honor of Rupprecht Maushart, the Association for Radiation Protection has been awarding the prize for young scientists launched in 2010 under the name Rupprecht-Maushart Prize.

Rupprecht Maushart has also been politically active as a member of the FDP since 1968 .

Professional activities

Rupprecht Maushart received his doctorate in 1956 from the Technical University of Karlsruhe with a thesis on the mobility of positive ions in extremely pure gases and gas mixtures. Professionally he worked in the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Rudolf Berthold in Bad Wildbad , today's Berthold Technologies company , was active in the development of measuring devices for ionizing radiation .

Rupprecht Maushart is married to the FDP politician and consumer advocate Bärbl Maushart . You live in Straubenhardt .
