The Ruselberg route is a mountain road over the Ruselabsatz to the Rusel . It manages the ascent from the Danube plain near Deggendorf into the Bavarian Forest after rain of 300 m above sea level. NN at 856 m. In winter this route is often difficult to drive due to heavy snowfall or slippery ice due to the incline (snow chains) and sometimes even closed. On the 4 km between Ruselkraftwerk and Ruselabsatz the gradient is 13%.

The route between Deggendorf and Regen is used by many motorcyclists in summer because of its steep and winding passages, which repeatedly leads to accidents.

In order to improve traffic safety, year-round driving bans for articulated lorries and truck-trailer combinations and a maximum speed of 20 km / h for trucks from 3.5 t were introduced in the direction of Deggendorf. For other vehicles, the entire route is speed limited in both directions.

On September 17, 1922, the General German Automobile Club (Gau Südbayern) organized the Ruselberg race on the track.

The street was part of the federal highway 11 until it was moved to the west in 1979, where it could be better developed and is safe to drive all year round. Today the Ruselberg route is part of the Bavarian state road St 2135 .
