Ruslan Oleksijowytsch Stefantschuk ( Ukrainian Руслан Алексеевич Стефанчук ; born October 29, 1975 in Ternopil , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian lawyer, university professor and politician.

Life

Ruslan Stefantschuk was born in Ternopil as the son of Oleksij Ivanovych Stefantschuk, an orthopedic surgeon and traumatologist in Khmelnytskyi. After graduating from school in Khmelnytskyi with honors in 1992, he graduated from the Khmelnytskyi Institute for Regional Management and Law in 1997 with a law degree . At the same time he studied at the Podolian Technological University in Khmelnytskyi, which he graduated in 1999 with a degree in production management.

He then worked as an assistant at the department of civil law disciplines at the same university and entered the graduate school of the Institute for Constitutional Law. After graduating from the graduate school, from 2000 he worked at the Khmelnytsky University of Management and Law as senior lecturer, department head, associate professor and professor of civil law disciplines. Between 2005 and 2011 he was Deputy Rector for Research. From 2011 to 2013 he headed the Department of Problems of Development of National Legislation of the Verkhovna Rada Legislative Institute, and from 2013 to 2014 he was the department head of civil law disciplines. Between 2014 and 2016 he worked as the Vice Rector for Research at the National Academy of Law Enforcement of Ukraine . From 2016 he worked as the Vice Rector for Research at the Bar School of the National Bar Association of Ukraine .

Stefantschuk has published over 500 scientific and educational works and has been a corresponding member of the National Academy of Law of Ukraine since 2009. He also taught at several universities in Kiev and Kharkiv.

After the presidential election in Ukraine in May 2019, he became an advisor to the newly elected President of Ukraine Volodymyr Selenskyj and is considered the chief ideologist of his party, Sluha Narodu ( Servant of the People ). After the parliamentary elections in Ukraine in 2019 , which were successful for this party , he became a member of the Verkhovna Rada and will represent the Ukrainian President there. On August 29, 2019, he was elected first deputy chairman of parliament at the first session of the newly elected Verkhovna Rada.
