The Russell Glacier is a glacier on the northern flank of the Elias Range in the US state of Alaska .
The Russell Glacier flows 31 km north from the northern flank of Mount Bona and ends at an altitude of about 1,350 m . The White River , a tributary of the Yukon River , is fed by the glacier. On the west side of the glacier tongue is Upper Skolai Lake , which flows over Skolai Creek to the Nizina River .
The main glacier of the Russell Glacier has a maximum width of 2.8 km. Together with its tribute glaciers , the Russell Glacier covers an area of around 185 km². 4 km northeast of Mount Bona is the largely glacier-capped stratovolcano Mount Churchill in the transition area of Russell and Klutlan Glacier .
The glacier was named in 1891 by the US Geological Survey (USGS) after Israel Cook Russell (1852-1906), a US geologist.
