The Russian cuirassier regiment of 1702/2 was founded in 1702 as the Wolkonsky Dragoons in Tsarist Russia and 30 years later known as the cuirassier regiment of the " Baron of Lies " Karl Friedrich Hieronymus von Münchhausen .

history

The regiment had changing names, depending on the regiment owner . Initially named after its founder Wolkonsky- Dragoons , it was called in 1708 Jaroslaw-Dragoons, 1732 Braunschweig -Cuirassiers, 1741 Holstein-Cuirassiers, 1742 Grand Duke Peter -Cuirassiers , 1762 Heir to the Throne ("Nasljednika") - Cuirassiers and from 1796 Kaiser-Leib-Cuirassiers No. 1. The regiment continued its tradition through the Napoleonic Wars. The regiment in Riga was under its owner, Anton Ulrich von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel .
