Ruth Halbsguth

Ruth Halbsguth (born December 9, 1916 in Eckernförde ; † October 12, 2003 ibid) was a German swimmer who won silver with the relay at the 1936 Olympic Games .

Ruth Halbsguth swam for Nixe Charlottenburg . From 1933 to 1938 she won the German championship in 400 meter freestyle swimming six times in a row; during her career she set ten German records. At the European Swimming Championships in Magdeburg in 1934 , she finished second behind the Dutch women with the 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay made up of Ruth Halbsguth, Ingrid Ohliger , Hilde Salbert and Gisela Arendt . At the Olympic Games in 1936, the freestyle relay with Ruth Halbsguth, Leni Lohmar , Ingeborg Schmitz and Gisela Arendt was again subject to the Dutch women.
