Ruth Im Obersteg Geiser , politically active as Ruth Geiser-Im Obersteg (born April 22, 1921 - December 27, 2014 ) was a Swiss politician ( BGB , SVP ) from the canton of Bern .

In Obersteg Geiser was a qualified trade teacher and president of the Bernese women's suffrage association. After the introduction of women's suffrage at the municipal level in 1968 and at the cantonal and national level in 1971, she was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern from 1974 to 1978 and, as a councilor, the first woman in the city government of Bern from 1971 to 1984 . She was the building director.

She was initially a member of the Farmers, Trade and Citizens' Party (BGB), which later became the Swiss People's Party (SVP). In 1976 she was not nominated again by the SVP and was re-elected (as a non-party). After her resignation, she was involved in various foundations and as President of the Bernese Artists. In old age she joined the Civil Democratic Party (BDP). She had four children.
