Ruukki [ ˈruːkːi ] is a place and a former municipality in northwestern Finland. On January 1, 2007, Ruukki merged with the coastal community of Siikajoki ; the new municipality only carries on the name Siikajokis, but has Ruukki as its administrative center.

Ruukki is located in the coastal hinterland of the Northern Ostrobothnian landscape around 50 km southwest of the city of Oulu on the Siikajoki River . The place is the oldest industrial location in Northern Finland: In 1672, Governor General Peter Brahe the Younger founded a potash factory on the Ruukinkoski rapids . A sawmill was founded in 1846 and a beer factory in 1914 . Today the woodworking and metal industries are based in Ruukki.

The municipality of Ruukki existed from 1973 to 2006. It was created through the merger of the municipalities of Paavola and Revonlahti ( Revolax in Swedish ). In addition to the main town of Ruukki and the parish villages of Paavola and Revonlahti, the parish included Heinolahti, Jauhoniemi, Kivijärvi, Kuivaniemi, Lappi, Luohua, Pudasjärvi, Relletti and Tuomioja. It had an area of ​​779.89 km² and recently around 4,500 inhabitants.
