The Rautaruukki Oyj (fi. Ironworks ) was a Finnish steel producer based in Helsinki and production sites in Raahe and Hämeenlinna , which mostly under the brand name Ruukki occurred. On July 29, 2014, the company was taken over by the Swedish competitor SSAB .

In 2007, the company generated sales of EUR 3.876 billion with around 14,500 employees worldwide. Rautaruuki was represented in a total of 24 countries in Scandinavia, Central Europe, the Baltic States and countries in Southeast Europe.
The company was listed in the Finnish OMX Helsinki 25 stock index.
history
Rautaruukki was founded in 1960 by the Finnish government to produce steel for the national defense industry.
In January 2014, the Swedish competitor SSAB announced that it would take over the company for the equivalent of 1.15 billion euros. On July 15, 2014, the European Commission gave its approval, subject to the condition that some company divisions were to be sold, and the takeover was completed on July 29, 2014. By November 20, 2014, SSAB had acquired all the shares in Rautaruukki and the Helsinki Stock Exchange completed the delisting .
SSAB's Construction Solutions division was renamed Ruukki Construction .
