The Ruyan Group (Holdings) Limited , abbreviated to Ruyan , started selling the electronic cigarette in the Chinese market in May 2004 under its then name Golden Dragon Group (Holdings) Limited . A short time later, this product began to be marketed worldwide under the Ruyan brand . In 2010 the company changed the name to Dragonite International Limited again . The electronic cigarettes will continue to be sold under the Ruyan brand .

The company started producing ginseng products in 1993 . In addition to this health care product, pharmaceutical products were later added to the portfolio. In 2001, Golden Dragon Group (Holdings) Limited was registered on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under number 0329. The electronic cigarette developed by the employee Hon Lik was registered for a patent in 2003. In 2007 the company was renamed Ruyan Group (Holdings) Limited. In fiscal year 2009, the company's sales fell by 77% compared to the previous year. This was attributed to the advance of counterfeit products and changed laws and regulations in the sales countries. The company was renamed again in 2010, now Dragonite International Limited. In the same year sales fell again by 78%. a. because of new regulations that z. B. banned the export of electronic cigarettes to Australia , Singapore and Canada .
