Ryuichi Tanabe

Ryūichi Tanabe ( Japanese 田邊 隆 一 , Tanabe Ryūichi ; born March 9, 1948 in Ayabe ) is a Japanese diplomat.

Life

Tanabe studied at the Foreign Language University Tokyo and the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main . In 1972 in Frankfurt he became a member and distinguished consenior of the Corps Saxonia Leipzig . From 1994 to 1997 he worked at the Japanese Consulate General in Munich. In 2003 he became ambassador to Serbia and Montenegro , 2006 to Poland and 2009 to India . He is a professor at Osaka Technical University . At the 200th foundation festival of his corps in June 2012, he gave the keynote address. He thanked Germany's solidarity and willingness to help during the Tōhoku earthquake in 2011 and pointed out that flexibility, openness to foreign cultures, adaptability and diversity are common characteristics of Japanese culture and corps students.
