The Ryan Point is a weighty chapter on the east coast of the West Antarctic Thurston Island . It lies within the icy Morgan Inlet and forms the eastern end of a wedge-shaped headland between the Lofgren and Tierney peninsulas .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the cape in 2003 after A. E. Ryan, aerial photographer during Operation Highjump (1946–1947) carried out by the United States Navy to create aerial photographs of Thurston Island and the neighboring mainland coast.
