Alain de Krassny

Alain François Marcel de Krassny (born October 2, 1942 in Nice ) is a French chemical engineer and entrepreneur.

Life

Alain de Krassny is the son of François and Marie-Louise de Krassny.

Until 1966 he studied at the École nationale supérieure de chimie de Lille (ENSCL) up to a diploma. De Krassny received his Master of Science in Physical Organic Chemistry in 1969 from the University of California, Berkeley , United States, Berkeley, USA, and his Master of Business Administration in 1972 from Insead in Fontainebleau .

From 1972 de Krassny worked for Rhône-Poulenc . In 1987 he became a member of the board of the subsidiary Donau Chemie , which he took over in 1997 in a management buy-out from Rhône-Poulenc and Creditanstalt . In 2009 he withdrew from the operative business.

From March 2012 until the bankruptcy in July 2013, Alain de Krassny and his wife Isabella de Krassny held a stake of around 20% in the DIY chain Praktiker .

In 2014 he took over the insolvent French chemical company Kem One , the second largest manufacturer of PVC in Europe, through Donau Invest together with OpenGate Capital . Other parts of the company were later acquired by the previous owner, the Klesch Group . At the end of 2015, Krassny increased its stake to 90%.

Functions

Alain de Krassny is or was a consultant to the Ministère du Commerce Exterieur de la France , and he is also President of the French-Austrian Chamber of Commerce in Vienna and the Société d'Assistance des Francais en Autriche . De Krassny is a commercial councilor and the first non-Austrian vice-president of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce.
