Ryang Yong-gi (born January 7, 1982 in Osaka Prefecture ) is a Japanese- born football player of Korean descent .

Career

society

Ryang joined Vegalta Sendai , second division officer of the J. League, from Hannan University in 2004 . The midfielder established himself there immediately and became a fixture. Since 2008 he has been the team captain, in the 2009 season he played all 51 league games and contributed 14 goals to the championship and the associated promotion to J. League 1.

National team

In 2005 Ryang took part in the East Asian Games with the North Korean U-23 selection . He scored four goals in the course of the tournament, including the 2-0 in the semi-finals against archenemy South Korea. In the final, he and his team lost to the Chinese selection.

In 2008 Ryang played for the North Korean national team in qualifying for the World Cup against Jordan and was also in the squad for the 2008 East Asian Championship . In February 2010 he took part in the AFC Challenge Cup 2010 in Sri Lanka with a Korean B selection . A final success after a penalty shoot-out against Turkmenistan made it possible to qualify for an Asian Cup for the first time since 1992. Ryang was the best with four goals scored, two in the preliminary round win against the Indian U-23s and two hits against Turkmenistan, one each in the preliminary round and one in the final Tournament scorer. He also received the award as Most Valuable Player for his tournament performance .
