The building at Rynek 6 is located in the historic old town of Lublin in Poland , more precisely: on the market square .

history

The house was built in the 15th century and was owned by Stefan de Wilczyno from Chelm . After the fire in 1575, it was rebuilt by Piotr Mularz and provided with sgraffito . In 1670 the building was reinforced. At this time, the attic was also redesigned. During archaeological investigations in the 1920s, a large number of wall remains from the Gothic and Renaissance periods were discovered on the window frames and two portals in the back courtyard. In the first half of the 17th century the house was owned by the Cichorzewski family. A renaissance roof was probably created at this time. After that it became the property of the Lemek family. Another renovation and expansion took place at the beginning of the 20th century. In 1938 the facade was repaired and a sgraffito frieze by Szczęsny Felicjan Kowarski was added. In the same year, a portal with glyphs from the 17th century was uncovered. After the building was destroyed in World War II , it was rebuilt in 1954. The reconstruction included the redesign of the third floor into another floor. The design of the roof was carried out according to free interpretations based on historical forms. Likewise, the sgraffito by Maria and Lech Grześkiewicz with depictions of traders' lives and figures.
