Sámuel Gyulay von Marosnémeth und Nádaska (* 1723 in Nádaska , Hungary, † April 24, 1802 in Bere , Hungary) was an Austrian lieutenant field marshal .

origin

His parents were Ferenc Gyulay (born August 11, 1674 - October 18, 1728) and his wife, Countess Mária Bánffy de Losoncz .

Life

Sámuel Gyulai began his military career in the War of the Austrian Succession and became major in 1752. At the beginning of the Seven Years War he took part in the advance to Berlin and in 1759 became a colonel. During the war he fought near Meißen, Maxen and Torgau .

As a colonel near Teplitz, he acquired the Maria Theresa Order (1763) on August 2, 1762 ,

After the Treaty of Hubertusburg he was transferred to Sibiu with the regiment. Promoted to major general in 1767, he became the owner of Infantry Regiment No. 31 on March 28, 1773 and Lieutenant Field Marshal on January 6, 1777. He came as a commandant from Karlsburg in Transylvania , where he died on April 24, 1802.

He was with the Baroness Anna Bornemisza de Kaszon . His sons Ignácz Gyulay , Albert Gyulay and grandson Ferencz József Gyulay were also Austrian soldiers with the rank of general.
