Sára Kaňkovská (born June 22, 1998 in Olomouc ) is a Czech cyclist.

Athletic career

Sára Kaňkovská comes from a cycling family: Her father Martin Kaňkovský was also an active cyclist - he was third in the Czech road championship in 1994 - and works as a mechanic for Dukla Brno , whose athletes train on the Brno Velodrome. Her twin sister Ema is also successful in cycling. The father initially tried to prevent his daughters from becoming racing cyclists because he was of the opinion that the sport was too demanding, but after their successes changed his mind. At the age of 14, Kaňkovská fell badly while exercising and suffered a fractured tibia and skull.

In 2014 Kaňkovská became Czech champion of the elite team pursuit (with Lucie Hochmann , Jarmila Machačová and her sister Ema). The following year, she won in the World Championships Junior finished third in the Keirin . In 2016, she won the title in the same discipline at both the Junior World Championships and the Junior European Championships .

At the Track Cycling World Cup 2017/18 , Sára Kaňkovská finished fifth in the overall Keirin ranking. In 2019 she became three-time national champion in sprint , keirin and 500-meter time trial .
