São José is a Portuguese town and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in the district of Viseu . The community had 5399 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

On September 29, 2013, the parishes of Viseu (São José), Viseu (Coração de Jesus) and Viseu (Santa Maria de Viseu) were merged to form the new parish União das Freguesias de Viseu .
