São Miguel das Missões is a city in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil with an area of ​​1229.844 km² and 7514 inhabitants (2006).

Jesuit reductions

From 1607 to 1768 founded Missionaries of the Jesuits in the border triangle of South Brazil , Paraguay and Argentina - as the area around Posadas known - along with the Guarani -Indianern many missions, the so-called Jesuit reductions . Similar facilities have also been declared World Heritage Sites in Bolivia and Paraguay .
