São Salvador is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Santarém . The community had 10,590 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Santarém (São Salvador), Santarém (São Nicolau) , Santarém (Marvila) and Santa Iria da Ribeira de Santarém became the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Santarém (Marvila), Santa Iria da Ribeira de Santarém, Santarém (São Salvador) e Santarém (São Nicolau) merged. Santarém (São Salvador) is the seat of this newly formed community.
