Sämi Weber (born July 19, 1964 in Horgen ) is a Swiss children's book author.

Life

Sämi Weber grew up in Horgen on Lake Zurich . He started writing his own stories at an early age and published various school newspapers. In his free time, he set up a cycling school and took the children on bike tours through Switzerland.

After training at a specialist magazine publisher and making excursions into advertising and PR , he worked as a childcare worker on a Florida ranch for six months before setting up as a freelance copywriter and writer at the age of 24.

During a visit to the Waldhüsli of the St. Nicholas Society of the City of Zurich , Weber saw how the donkey ate the decoration from the fir branches. He then told the incident on several occasions until an acquaintance asked him to speak the story on tape.

In collaboration with the composer Chris Grunder and the illustrator Stefan Frey, the story Benjamin the Donkey was created . Thanks to the relationships of Chris Grunder, the team succeeded in engaging the Swiss TV presenter Sandra Studer as the narrator.

In 2007 and 2010, Sämi Weber wrote a stage version of the stories published so far and brought them to the stage in the musical Bim Samichlaus dihei.

After four stories, Nikki and Pieps Verlag expressed the wish for more stories from the two Samichlaus helpers Nikki and Pieps. In the story Harald der Hirsch (2013) the squirrel and the robin get to know the Easter bunny and have been helping him since then.

In addition to Sandra Studer (Nikki), Barbara Kretz Fischer (Pieps), Rudolf Ruch (Schmutzli), Ernst Süss (Samichlaus) and Edward Piccin (Benjamin), other well-known Swiss artists regularly take part in the CDs: Boni Koller ( Schtärneföifi ), Hanna Scheuring , Director Sager, Ritschi , Urs Bosshardt , Viola Tami .
