Sébastien Daucé

Sébastien Daucé (born June 4, 1980 in Rennes ) is a French musicologist , organist and orchestra leader .

Life

Sébastien Daucé's musical training began in his homeland, as a choirboy at the choir school at Rennes Cathedral . He then studied musicology at the University of Rennes , then attended the harpsichord classes of Françoise Lengellé and Yves Rechsteiner at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Lyon . In 2008, Daucé founded the Ensemble Correspondances , which is made up of former students at the Conservatory. The ensemble, which he also directs, is best known for its performances of compositions by French composers of the 17th century such as Marc-Antoine Charpentier and Antoine de Boësset . With his ensemble, he was a guest at early music festivals in Ambronay, Pontoise, Sablé, Saintes, Beaune, Lanvellec, La Chaise-Dieu and Utrecht.

In the summer of 2015 Daucé performed the music and ballet piece Le Concert royal de la nuit with his ensemble and the contralto Lucile Richardot at the Festival of Saintes , which has not been seen or heard publicly since 1653.

As a music editor, Daucé published three operas for Éditions Abbesses in collaboration with William Christie .
