Sébastien Parotte

Sébastien Parotte (* 1984 in Verviers ) is a Belgian opera singer with a bass-baritone voice .

Life

Sébastien Parotte grew up in Grand-Rechain near Herve and received his first singing lessons at the age of five. As a boy soloist he sang at the Liège Opera and at the La Monnaie Opera in Brussels. He studied at the Liège Conservatories, where he graduated in double bass, and from 2001 in Maastricht , where he studied singing in Mya Besselink's class . The German branch of Jeunesses Musicales International selected him in 2005 to sing roles in operas by Verdi and Rossini. In 2007 he was a member of the Jeunes Voix du Rhin at the Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg . In 2008 he received a scholarship to teach at the Chapelle musicale Reine Élisabeth in Brussels, where José van Dam prepared him for the 2011 Concours Reine Elisabeth . In this international competition Parotte was among the 12 finalists and received the audience award. In 2011 Parotte made her debut at the Landestheater Linz as Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola . In the 2011/2012 concert season Parotte has engagements at the “Opéra National de Lorraine” and in the role of “Masetto” in Mozart's Don Giovanni at the “Opéra National de Bordeaux”. Since the beginning of the 2012/13 season he has been engaged at the Staatstheater Nürnberg , where he was seen as Leporello, Ping, Angelotti and many other roles.

In recent years he has sang in productions such as La Cenerentola by Rossini in Montenegro, in La Traviata by Verdi at the Theater Hof . a. to the Opéra National de Bordeaux , the Opéra national de Lorraine , the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence . Since 2018 he sang in the production of Jeanne d'Arc au bûcher by Honegger, with the Orchester Philharmonique Royal de Liège , in Schubert's Winterreise, and in 2019 in the role of Dulcamara in L'elisir d'amore by Gaetano Donizetti at the Grand Opera d'Avignon.
